Pelican Sculpture (approx 24" high)

Welcome to my site. The future holds promise for some new and exciting work, and I am looking forward to many interesting challenges.

As you browse through my site, you will see fountains, sculptures, jewelry, photography, and my personal favorites "Sculptures Dancing in Time". These are sculptures that continually change their appearance, as they are actually timepieces.

Upcoming Shows & Events:
There are no shows currently on my schedule.

I am not currently showing my work in any galleries, but I would be pleased to set an appointment with you in my home workshop.

Please feel free to browse through all the pages of this site.  If you see something that interests you and you would like more information or wish to purchase that piece (or one similar to it), or if you have an idea of your own that you'd like me to bring to life for you, contact me by clicking the link below or give me a call.

I can take your ideas and create a unique one-of-a-kind art piece to your specifications, or I can create a piece to match a unique personality or profession.
WHAT'S NEW? Almost every piece I create has some sort of movement involved. Recently, I've discovered the beauty of hand-blown Kuegels (or glass balls) I've incorporated a "wing" that catches the wind to set the sculpture spinning, yet the Kuegel is supended inside the sculpture and may rotate with or against the direction of the "wing". Go to my Fountains & Large Sculptures page to see these latest creations.

This is a recent sculpture hand carved out of wood, with semi-opaque glass.  The setting sun has a candle behind it to dramatize the overall image.  This sculpture may be hung on a wall or placed on a shelf .  Either way the setting sun is spectacular after dark.

Robert Sillers

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Bob Sillers grew up in Santa Barbara, CA and has spent most of his life near the ocean, which has had an influence on both his personal and artistic development.  So much so that Bob and his wife, Danita, were married on the remote Fijian island of Nanuya Lai Lai (The Blue Lagoon), at sunset, barefoot on the sand.

Bob now lives in Carmel Valley near San Diego and enjoys walking the beaches in search of new concepts or components for his sculptures.

Never completely satisfied with a finished piece, Bob designed many of his rock based sculptures with a swivel-mount to allow free rotation of the sculpture, offering infinite variations of it's visual appearance.

This led to the creation of "Sculptures Dancing In Time".  These are smaller sculptures having an imbedded clock movement in hand-crafted wood bases.  These clock-sculptures offer a continually changing visual appearance as the "hands" of the clock rotate keeping perfect time.

His clock-sculptures seem to echo Bob's feelings about life:

"Time passes swiftly- enjoy each moment as it dances in time."

Thanks for your interest and for taking a look at my work. I will be adding new items regularly, so come back again.  Please contact me with any comments or questions!
